Summer in Norway

It has almost been a month since I last blogged. We have been very busy with all sorts. We had visitors, a German friend from uni with her Italian partner and two kids each a year older than Iluka and Ella. It was lovely to see her and her family, and though Iluka and Luan had some trouble finding a common language, they got on pretty well most of the time. Iluka spoke Norwegian to them and Luan spoke a newly invented language he called Dog English. Very innovative though not very understandable.

We have also enjoyed some rather nice summer days. We went for a walk to find blueberries last weekend. We didn't find any and ended up going to a cafe instead. Such foreigners...

But first we had a little snack here:

And here are Ella and I as we walk the last bit back to the car:

For those of you who know, you may notice that she has got the somewhat easily recognisable Duclert ears :o)

Seb and Iluka went for a bike ride later that day and found both blueberries and chanterelle mushrooms.
Here is one of the cupcakes I made with the blueberries. Yuuum!

And last night, as we had some friends over for dinner, we had a bit of scary thing happen. Ella was on my lap, Iluka next to me, very close to me as she was a bit shy because of the guests, and she got a bit excited about something and accidentally put her fork into poor Ella's eye. It was bleeding from the eye and we got very, very scared. Seb quickly checked it out as best he could, while I took care of Iluka, who was sooo upset about the whole thing.

Luckily the new emergency services opened their new offices about 400 metres from where we live 3 days ago and I took Ella there. It turned out that she had got a scratch on her eye ball and a perforation on the eye lid. But she was incredibly lucky (if you can say that considering she'd just had a fork put into her eye) and she will be just fine.

The patch is falling off here, but look how cute she is!

She IS an adorable little pirate... too bad Halloween isn't a little sooner! Poor thing - but more poor Iluka, I know she must have been horribly upset. I once heard from a nurse that the eyes are one of the fastest healing parts of our body.
I was afraid at first that muffin picture was a mushroom/blueberry combination!

Nous sommes rassurés de savoir qu'Ella n'a plus son patch et que son oeil est OK. Même avec le patch, je vois qu'elle a déjà bien changé depuis Pornichet, mais je regrette les petits sourires....

Poor Ella!!!!! It must have so scary for you! She does look incredibly cute, though! Luckily she got away with so 'little' in the end.

Lovely photos again..
