Visitors and winter play

We had visitors visiting from Denmark, one of my oldest, bestest friends from way back! It was great to have them over, for Iluka to meet their daughter, Kajsa, and just to hang out with old friends!

Here we are having a walk in Oslo, it was a lovely day not too cold at all and I didn't get cold spending most of the afternoon outside. Niiiiice!

Standing at the fjord with the City Hall behind us.

And Oslo City Hall. Seb says he likes it in a don't-do-it-again-kind-of-way, which I think is quite fitting.

We did lots of nice things with them, though their visit was all too short. But it was great to have guests, it is all too often ourselves who are the guests, so it was nice to be able to be the hosts for once. Thank you for coming Signe, René and Kajsa!

Last weekend Seb, Iluka and I went to a lovely farm very close to where we live. You can go visit the farm animals and then have a nice lunch in their cafe. Most people ski there and actually deserve the waffles after their lunch, but we have the waffles anyway. Kids smaller than Iluka go skiing here, and it is not far from the truth when Norwegians say they are born wearing skis!
We just pull Iluka in the sledge, here we are on the lake where lots of people do their cross country skiing.

And we had a quick little picnic with our friends and their two little children. It was a bit too chilly to really enjoy it and the kids were getting tired and cranky.

Speaking of chilly, the last couple of mornings it has been around -24 degrees when we get up and it hasn't gone above about -17. So we stay inside a lot and do things at home. Yesterday Iluka and I needed to get out though, and took the car to go to an indoor playground. But all the way in the car, even while wearing her big winter suit, Iluka was complaining about being cold, as the car took forever to warm up. She feels it even more intensely than we do, I suppose, and she is not a fan of below -10. So bring on spring. Bring on milder weather.

It all looks so winter wonderland fantastic! We're planning ... we might have to plan on a winter visit, it looks so lovely... especially if I get to walk and skate on lakes again!
